PIPSICO Summer Camp 2020 Guide (coming soon)

PIPSICO COVID-19 Camping FAQ

Before Camp

  • Summer Camp is still being planned.  In the case that PIPSICO cancels camp, we will be refunded 100% of the camp fees.
  • If you are unable to attend camp, and notify them at least 14 days before camp, refunds will be given minus 25% cancellation fee.  An option to roll 100% of the camp fee to 2021 is available, but must be done no less than 7 days before camp.
  • All scouts will have to submit an updated BSA Health Form Sections A&B dated less than 2 weeks BEFORE CAMP, regardless if using the Section C from last year.  For those that need a Physical and you are UNABLE to get one done, please let me know ASAP.
  • If you are in the “High Risk” category for COVID-19 (age or medical) than you may need a doctor’s note that you may attend camp.  This is still being decided.
  • Food Allergy forms need to be given BEFORE camp.
  • In addition to pre-screening in VA before departure, the camp will be screening all individuals.  If any in the group have symptoms, they (and their carload) will be sent home.
  • Pre-Camp Checklist and Arrival Plan will be available soon.
  • In order to assist with spacing, each troop will have a pre-arranged arrival time.

During Camp

  • Scouts will be grouped in “Districts”.  You will travel around as a group. District assignments will be released before we leave for camp.
  • Meals will be eaten with your “District”.  The plan now is for you to eat at your camp ground.
  • No Family Night or outside visitors.
  • Plan for individual tents, no sharing.
  • Plan for participants to be wearing masks at times during camp, esp. in areas where contact with other Districts may occur.
  • No bikes within camp.  They can bring them to take bike trails.

After Camp

  • PIPSICO will be following up with troops after 1 week and then 2 weeks, to verify health and/or notify of any issues.

======================

Scouts and Scouters,

Summer camp is right around the corner! Planning on joining us for camp? The troop is going to PIPSICO BSA Summer Camp, Week 3 (July 5-11, 2020).

Scouts have the opportunity to pick from more than 60 Merit Badge selections.  Included with these options is the Huskanaw program.  The program's purpose is to teach Scouts about the patrol method, Troop organization, being prepared, resourcefulness, and skills for Scout, Tenderfoot, Second Class, and First Class ranks.  Either all morning or all afternoon, it allows time for up to 3 Merit Badges classes.  In addition, PIPSICO is offering the PEX (Pipsico Experience) Specialty Program ( 14+ yrs or 13 yrs and completed 8th grade ).  PEX is all day program that rotates through a series of programs such as canoeing, tubing, rifle, shotgun, airsoft/paintball, tomahawk, climbing, fishing, cooking, and some off-site experiences.

Information for the Camp and Merit Badge Sessions can be found online (see below).
