Adult Training
As you become active in helping out the troop it is very important to get the BSA training so that you understand why things are done certain ways. The link below will get you to most of the required training. Some of the training must be done in person. Our district runs this training. There are other opportunities in other districts which are practically local too. If you can't wait for the "classroom/outdoor instruction in our district, let me know and I'll point you in the right direction. The following is the list of the required training. When you get to the e-Learning portal using the link below, if you don't have an active BSA ID number, on the right side use the "new to scouting" link and create an account for yourself. You don't have to have a BSA ID number to do this. You can revisit that information at a latter time when you get your ID card from me. The system will allow you to register and take the training without the ID number/council. If you do have an ID number, input it along with our council (Occoquan). When you complete the training please let me and Chris M. know so we can update the database. The Troop gets graded on these points.
BSA On Line Training (My Scouting)
To be an officially trained ASM, you must have the following:
- This is Scouting
- Boy Scout Fast Start
- Youth Protection Training, Hazardous Weather, Safe Swim Defense, Safety Afloat, Trek Safely, Leave No Trace, Climb On Safely
- Leader Specific Training (Scoutmaster/ASM, Committee, or COR depending on your role)
- Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills (IOLS)
To be an officially trained Committee Member:
- Boy Scout Fast Start
- Youth Protection Training, Hazardous Weather, Safe Swim Defense, Safety Afloat, Trek Safely, Leave No Trace, Climb On Safely
- Troop Committee Challenge
To be an officially trained COR:
- Youth Protection Training, Hazardous Weather, Safe Swim Defense, Safety Afloat, Trek Safely, Leave No Trace, Climb On Safely
- Fast Start for COR Classroom/Outdoors
- COR Specific Training
